How to Apply

Our Grant Application Procedure

Thank you for your interest in The Ralph M. Parsons Foundation, and for the work you do to improve the lives of Los Angeles County residents. We want to help you do your very best work.

All grant applications begin with an online Letter of Inquiry (LOI) as a required first step in seeking funding. We have a continuous approval process and LOIs may be submitted at any time throughout the year. Before submitting an LOI, please review the Foundation’s Funding Priorities, Searchable Grants Database, FAQs, and a downloadable version of our LOI application.

  • To start the process of creating an LOI, please click here.
  • To return to an application you began earlier, please click here.

The Foundation moved to an online application process in early 2017. For more information about that change, please see the section below. Should you have any questions about completing your LOI, please refer to the FAQs on our website or call the Foundation at 213.362.7600 and ask for a program officer to assist you.

We will carefully review your LOI and you can expect a response in approximately six weeks. The most competitive LOIs will be invited to submit a full proposal, and further instructions will be provided at that time. If your LOI is declined, your organization will be eligible to reapply in 12 months.

About Our Online Application

Beginning in early 2017, The Ralph M. Parsons Foundation implemented a new online grant application, which replaced our previous paper-based system. We are excited to announce this change, which we expect to create a more efficient, cost effective, and environmentally friendly process for prospective grantees and the Foundation team.

Based on input from our most recent grantee survey, we have made every effort to develop a user-friendly electronic system. However, new technologies often involve a learning curve for everyone. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this change, or encounter difficulty when using the system, we welcome your feedback. Melanie Yamamoto, Grants Associate, can be reached at Our phone number is 213.362.7600. If you are unable to use the online system, you may contact Melanie Yamamoto and request permission to submit an application via email.
